Sorge 87 is a multimedia project that explores the migration history of Vietnamese contract workers who came to the German Democratic Republic (GDR) in 1987.

At its center is an animated documentary that combines personal recollections with delicate textile-inspired imagery, reflecting the textile factories where many Vietnamese workers were employed. Through stories of arrival, work, friendship, cultural misunderstandings, and belonging, Sorge 87 offers an intimate perspective on life in East Germany shortly before the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Expanding beyond the film, the project brings together research, interviews, illustrations, and archival materials to preserve and share these memories across generations. Sorge 87 is both a personal family story and a collective portrait of migration, identity, and community.
